Picking Flowers

Hello there, everyone!
So sorry I've been so quiet this past week and a half.
This flu has been one of the worst I've ever had the displeasure
of encountering -- eight days!
Thankfully, hopefully, I am finally on the mend.

So I thought I'd pop in and share a card I made for the latest

I used the sweet Busy Doing Nothing image from
I colored her skin and hair with my Spectrum Noir pens
on CC Premium White Cardstock and paper-pieced
her dress using the Authentique Spring 6x6 pad.
To add shading and a more distressed look,
I also went over the patterned paper with my
BG1 and BG2 markers from the Warm Grey 6 Pen Set.

I added some May Arts ribbon to complete the look.
I hope you like it!

If you haven't yet played along with our
I encourage you to hop over there and take a look!
There's still ten days to whip something up and participate. :)

Hope to see you there.

Simple Pleasures

Hey girls!
Today I wanted to share a card I made for CHA.
Yeah, that's right. ;)
I just discovered a couple photos of cards I forgot to share with you.
And since the kids and I have been down with the flu this week,
and I've been too ill to do anything crafty,
I thought this would be the perfect time to put them up on the blog.

I made this card for Crafter's Companion
showcasing the Stamp It Australia - Imagine line.
The awesome sentiment is from Set 60 - Friendship Sentiments
and the butterfly from Set 67 - Birds and Butterflies.

When I was creating this card, this 6x6 pad was on its last legs.
This layout is great for those scraps of paper!
Plus it has a unique, eye-pleasing appeal.

I hope you like it!

Dandelion Canvas

Hey everyone!
I've got something a little different for you tonight.
I don't know if I've mentioned this here on the blog before,
but just before last Christmas I started taking painting on canvas classes.
I took three different classes on holiday themed canvases,
taught by a wonderful local artist named Heather Cash.
You can click that link to check out her website.
She's such a great teacher. :)
She really breaks it down and makes it so easy!

Tonight she resumed classes with something I've always wanted
to learn how to paint -- dandelions!
I typically share this stuff on my Christy Gets Crafty Facebook page,
but I thought I'd try sharing it here as well and see what you think.

A blank canvas and a palette of paint ...

... becomes a scene of dandelions against a deep blue sky!

Another angle to show the texture.

Anyway, I hope you like it!

Let me know if you're interested in seeing more of my canvases
as I continue to take classes -- I'll share if you enjoy seeing them.
 :)

Have a great day!

Congratulations Laurel and Welcome Home Lily Blog Hop

Good morning one and all!
Today I am here with a very special post for my dear friend Laurel.
Laurel gave birth to her sweet baby girl, Lily Kate
on February 16th, premature, but Lily has been doing so well
that she was actually able to come home this past Tuesday!
Praise the Lord!

So a bunch of us girls who love our sweet Laurel decided
to put together a blog hop to show Laurel just how thrilled we are
over her new addition's safe arrival home.

If you're hopping along, you should have come from
Chrissie's amazing blog
where you will also find the full list of participants.

Here's my card for Laurel:

I used Lawn Fawn's newly released Home Sweet Home
stamp set to create my little scene.
Since Laurel is such an awesome Mama,
I put her sitting right up close to her baby.
Laurel's hubby Christian is a helicopter pilot with the US Navy
so I made him be the one flying in. ;)

And for an added touch of whimsy, I used the
little swoopy heart from Bee Mine for his flight trail.

I really hope she likes it!

Please hop over to Elena's blog to see what wonder
she's created -- she always blows me away with her talent!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

P.S.
Also linking this up to the Simon Says Stamp Challenge:
use a bit o' green. :)

Party Paws Release

Hi, everyone!
I'm here today with another brand-new release from Crafter's Companion!
This line features an adorable panda bear named Bamboo
in eight darling EZ Mount stamp sets called Party Paws.

The image I chose to use is from the set, Bamboo's Favorites.
I colored him with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

By the way, did you see my new blinkie on my sidebar?
I am now an accredited Spectrum Noir colorist!
Ridiculously happy about that. :)

Hope you'll all head over to Crafter's Companion
and take a look at the full Party Paws range.
Totally cute!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Lawnscaping Challenge #53

Hello there!

We are being sponsored by the wonderful Simon Says Stamp!
Speaking of Simon, did you see the exclusive card I made
that was featured on their blog yesterday? What a thrill! :)

Simon Says Stamp

The lovely folks at Simon have generously donated
a $25 gift certificate to our winner!

And here's my card:

I used Lawn Fawn's Summertime Charm stamp and die set,
a sentiment from Lunar Lights, papers from the Pink Lemonade 6x6,
plus a scrap from Daphne's Closet, and some lemon Lawn Trimmings.

I have to be honest and say that I spent HOURS on this card
and it just didn't come together how I envisioned it.
I took it apart and re-did it three times.
I guess sometimes that just happens --
but I had a birthday party to plan for my littlest guy
and a huge batch of mini oreo cheesecakes to bake,
so I had to pronounce it good enough and let it go. :)

Oh well.

Please hop over to the Lawnscaping Challenge blog
and check out the rest of the design team's projects --
they're incredible!
While you're there, check out the deets on how to play along.

Have a great day, y'all!
Thanks for stopping by!

Treat Yourself

Hello all!
Man, am I glad it's Friday!
What a crazy, insanely busy week I've had.

This weekend won't be much better because my baby boy,
my littlest darling, is turning 8 on Sunday!
Insane.

But today before I rush out and do party errands,
I wanted to share a card with you all,
to remind you, and to remind myself,
that even on days that are crazy, insanely busy,
we need to take time to treat ourselves.
To refill. To refresh. To live in the moment.
To cherish life.

I made this card using the beautiful new Magnolia set
from Sheena Douglass' recently released line, A Little Bit Floral.
I colored my image with Spectrum Noir pens on
all brought to you by Crafter's Companion. :)

Thank you all so much for stopping by today.
Have a great weekend!
